Cruising in the Aegean Sea
During that month I had plenty of time for exploring these wonderful cruising grounds. Taking advantage of the winds I sailed between Samos and Kos, where my friends Johannes und and his sister Maria joined me for 10 days on the trip to the island of Paros.
Later Caroline joined me for a week and we met my good friends Niki and Jan, who had chartered a sailboat in Athens.
After having been alone since February, it was good to meet again with old friends.
The Aegean Sea in that time of year was actually pretty cold, but the cruising is wonderful, the locals are friendly, and you still find a berth in every harbour.
Early June I plan to sail around the Peloponnes. The canal of Korinth would be a tempting short-cut, but the exorbitant fee for transtting the 5kn long canal is way above my budget.
