CRUISING LOG of ANIMA
  July 10:
Island hopping in Vanuatu

I had planned for three weeks to sail singlehandedly from Port Vila to Luganville in the northern region, visiting a few of the islands.

During this trip I experienced some real highlights of this crusing period:
One very genuine custom dance show on Malekula; another hike up to an acitve volcano on Ambrym, taking very demanding 11h hours; meeting locals on Pentecost and getting to know them better, with some interesting talks exchanging thoughts about our very different life-styles; an amazing whale encounter at the anchorage on Maewo, where I was able to swim and snorkel "with" him. And in between in several villages watching soccer games, mostly on the school´s generator run TV set, seeing the final at one guys private house on Espiritu Santo.

There I waited for Thomas, a young lad from Germany, who will sail with me to Papua New Guinea and on to Darwin, Australia.
