LOGBUCH DER ANIMA
  MAY 10:
Passage to Fiji

It was a big high, that was supposed to bring south-westerlies first and then south-easterlies, which meant for good sailing. But that came with the so called "accelerated tradewinds", which we had on our beam with 25-30knots for two days. This was a new sailing experience for me: Heavy rolling and pounding, hard for both boat and crew. The third reef in the main, which was newly made in NZ did an excellent job. We had to slow down ANIMA to 4-5knots to make the movement of the boat bearable for gear and ourselves.
After all, it turned out to be a good passage with only a few engine hours, a little boisterous in the middle, but after 8 1/2 days we arrived safe and sound in Suva, Fiji´s capital.
