CRUISING LOG of ANIMA
  October 08 - Part 2
Canary Islands

After 4 days in Essaouira we set sail for the Canaries. There was only a short weather window, so we tried to sail as fast as possible to get there before stronger winds were expected. Anima managed the distance of 240nm with an average of 6.3 knots, so it was a hilaroius sail against time. And it was good like that, because 2 hours after arriving in La Graciosa there were gusts up to 33knots at the anchorage. Then we moved to the little port for provisioning, minor maintenance and - as a side effect - to meet other yachties.

Later we spent a week in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and almost two in La Gomera to do major provisioning and maintenance. A long to-do-list had accumulated up to this time, giving the final TLC for the long Atlantic passages. No need to mention that I met a lot of other yachties, who I spent a great time with!
